IDP MENACE

It’s five years since Kenya held the disputed general elections which rendered many families homeless constituting them Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS). Still yet some families are still making these camps their homes.

Infrastructure

The government promised to resettle these group of Kenyans by giving them land, but acquiring title deeds has become an uphill task. Although they have been given a track of land, there is no infrastructure such as water, electricity and a house which is the basic structure that shelters a human being.

Trauma

Nevertheless, those who have had houses built for them, fear moving to them because they are still traumatized. Even after   passing of time, some people still can’t get over the animosity. This therefore can cause IDPS to refrain from going back to their homes where they used to reside before this inhuman acts came up.

“The culprits are walking freely in the villages thus posing a threat to the evicts, “said a KCHR commissioner during an interview with citizen’s power breakfast presenters. The government has in effect failed to serve the victims of post-election violence with justice   by apprehending the citizens who have disregarded their duty of protecting the rights of others.In fact they need to be subjected to punishment, so as to serve as a lesson to any other persons who are planning to create havoc in the next general elections scheduled for December 2012 or March 2013.

The initiative by the government to ensure displaced persons go back to their former residents has proved futile. “Some IDPS moved to camps near their previous dwellings so that they could monitor things from there, “added the commissioner. This was more convenient to them than moving back to their house where they could still be forced out again. Therefore, people continue dwelling in camps up to date.

Since the resettlement will affect the people involved, it is reasonable to include them in deciding where to allocate land to these homeless ones. Nevertheless, the government did not consult with the IDPS before taking the move of distributing land among them. This in effect fueled the spirit of resistance among the displaced persons and they adamantly refused to move out of the camps to the land set aside for them. This is the main reason as to why we still have IDP camps to this date and something has to be done before the next general elections.

WONDERS OF CREATION

“Our solar system is huge. It’s alarming how little we know about it,” a documentary on the universe revealed. 

The Milky Way galaxy, the renowned name for our universe we so call home, is edified by numerous luminaries. These bodies famously known as heavenly bodies, one could think they reside in heaven, possess millions of wonders one has ever come to fathom.

Take for instance the red planet so called for its red soil,mars.Its alleged to have the capacity of supporting life owing to the fact that there are rudiments similar to tornadoes but more aggressive than the ones we are familiar with back on mother earth.Evidently,these tornadoes are triggered by wind and where there is wind there is air which has oxygen, the agent supporting life, as one of its constituents.However,due to the incessantly  blowing of the wind, the air in these blood like planet is packed with carbon dioxide, a gas parallel to the gas supporting life, making the existence of life here unattainable. 

Water, a commodity essential to life, has a its place in this red planet basing on the existence erosion resulting in gullies. If all these are unadulterated truth, then mars could be our ancestral home.

The goddess of love, a name alluding to Venus is the brightest planet ever known. It is about the same size as the earth but this does not imply it can serve as a safe haven for man.Why? Consider the following facts about this goddess. Clouds covering this deity are crammed with sulfuric acid, a decidedly corrosive element in chemistry. It also has in its atmosphere the leading enemy of oxygen, carbon dioxide, thus, without doubt, life is in great jeopardy if it is to reside here. The goddess of love then turns out to be the goddess of death.

Before I got a chance of glimpsing through this documentary, “Journey to the Edge of the Universe,” I was fully convinced that all planets are tangible matter. This coverage  conversely, proved me absolutely wrong.Saturn is a planet of its own kind .It’s nothing but a ball of gas, light enough to float on water.

In the core of this beautiful heavenly body with rings that could stretch all the way from earth to the moon, a distance of 400km, are ice balls. Some the size of ice cubes and others big as buildings on our planet earth. These ice balls collide, break apart, reassemble and over again, how incredible!

Drifting away from planets, we encounter stone like bodies commonly known as asteroids. Just because they plunge on earth as small meteorites does not give you the audacity to think that they are tiny creature in the vast space.   They are for a fact hundreds of kilometers wide with the smallest being about 30km.Therefore they could have been the ones that came together resulting in planets such as our home earth. Nevertheless not all asteroids ended up in this manner. There must be force that stalled their assembling. That force must have emanated from a very potent source.

That source is Jupiter, a planet 1000 times bigger than earth. In fact, all other planets could comfortably fit in it. It has Red spot that is 3 times as big as earth emanating a storm 10 000 times that of earth.

It is only a star but it commands authority in the whole universe. Without it, nothing could be existing to fly its own kite. The sun, the Greek god, hellenis, a god it is for certainty.150million kilometers from earth yet one could envisage that it is just above our heads. If one was to make a trip to this god, he will need patience and doggedness because it is not a two-hour ride to your upcountry by bus but a twenty-year journey by plane.

Its size is startling, 1million times that of earth with temperatures above 5000 degrees. If it were to plunge itself on earth today, all there is on the surface could be reduced to ashes. It’s full of electrical and magnetic activity leading to such extreme temperatures. Yet beneath the core it could be millions of degrees that could be enough to trigger a nuclear reaction with devastating effects millions of times those of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.

Up close, the sun looks something entirely different. What we see as rays of light from earth are only but loops of incandescent gas, one of which could go round the earth and still spare tens of thousands kilometer, that release energy 10milion times the energy ensuing from volcanoes. This could seem like a movie, a world of unreality, but all this is in our universe scantly known by the majority of its owners.

In the contiguous of the edge of the universe is a heavenly body more influential than the Greek god is. It has a spot that is hundreds of time brighter than the sun. Still yet it is 650million kilometers from the earth therefore it has no brunt on our planet earth.

Our solar system is enormous and has wonders worth appreciating so as owners of this incredible creation let us do all in our capacity to acquaint ourselves with it. What is in this revelation is just but the tip of the iceberg.Their’s more to it that needs to be exploited. So go for it.
